The Tanalian Lynx used a 13-4 run in the second quarter on Saturday to break open a close game and roll to a 54-28 victory over Manokotak in the final game of a weekend twinbill. The victory enabled Tanalian to sweep both games in the weekend series.

After racing to a slim 17-14 lead in the first quarter, the Lynx all but iced Game 2 with a staggering 13-4 spree in the second. The run enabled Tanalian to go into the half nursing a 12-point cushion, at 30-18.

Tanalian padded its lead a bit more in the third by posting a 15-6 run. The Lynx led at the start of the fourth quarter by a 45-24 margin.

Edward Nick Jr. paced Manokotak's offensive efforts in the setback by throwing in nine points. Simeon Tugatuk added six.

Tanalian needed a strong defensive effort to rally for a 54-36 come-from-behind win in the first game on Friday.

Manokotak, which was led by 16 points from Isaiah Anaver, hammered out a staggering 22-9 run in the first eight minutes of the contest.

Unfortunately for Manokotak, the Lynx defense ripped the wheels off the MHS offense from there. Tanalian limited Manokotak to just 14 points in the next three quarters of play - including just five in the entire second half.

The Tanalian offense also came to life. After pumping in 17 points in the second quarter and pulling to within 31-26 at the half, the Lynx went wild in the third. They outscored Manokotak by a 17-2 clip in the frame and took a 43-33 lead.

Tugatuk was Manokotak's second-leading scorer in Game 1, netting eight.

Scoring leaders from Tanalian were unavailable at press time.
