Moments after helping the Bristol Bay Lady Angels win the Class 2A state basketball championship, Anna Hansen heaped praise onto her teammates for notching a historic win. On Saturday, she helped another team come up big — the Gold All-Stars.

Sparked by help from Hansen and King Cove's standout McKenna Gould, the Gold All-Stars raced to a 96-64 victory in the Class 1A/2A All-Star Basketball Game. The contest, which was held April 15 in the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage, was one of four senior all-star contests sponsored by the Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches.

The Gold All-Stars didn't waste any time in taking control of the game. They opened the contest with a 40-31 run in the first half.

Hansen and Gould both came up big in the second half and helped the Gold seal the victory with a staggering 56-33 second-half push.

Hansen finished the game with four points and six rebounds. Gould chipped in seven points.

Scammon Bay standout Kiah Charlie led all Gold scorers with a game-high 27 points. The Class 1A Player of the Year, Charlie hit 11 of her 16 shots from the field, including five three-pointers.

Class 2A Player of the Year Rylie Lyon also starred in the contest. The Bristol Bay standout pumped in nine points while playing for the Blue All-Stars.

In the girls' Class 3A/4A All-Star contest, Barrow's Rose Mongoyak, forward, knocked down half of her team's four three-pointers and helped the Gold team claim a 71-64 decision.

Mongoyak was part of a talented Barrow squad that placed in the top three in each of the last four Class 3A state tournaments.
